Certification means a certified true copy of an MBR certificate. A CPA checks the copy against the original and confirms in writing that it is a true copy.
What a certified true copy is
A CPA sees the original MBR certificate, verifies the copy against it, and certifies in writing that the copy is a true copy. The CPA signs and stamps the copy, so the receiving party can rely on it as a true copy of the original.
How long it takes
Certified copies are sent within 24 hours of the MBR issuing the certificate.
Certification or Apostille?
Certification confirms that the copy matches the original, as checked by the CPA. An Apostille is a different step. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs verifies the signature and seal on the MBR certificate and the capacity of the official who signed it, so that the document can be accepted in another country.
An Apostille is stronger proof that the MBR certificate itself is authentic. A CPA who certifies a true copy does not try to establish whether the certificate is authentic. They only confirm that the copy matches the original they have seen.

You can order certification online. It costs €25 for each certificate, excluding VAT. It is added to your order total. You can choose certification or an Apostille for an order, but not both.
